University Resources Committee Membership

As established in Brown University’s Faculty Rules and Regulations, the University Resources Committee is a standing committee of the Brown faculty, chaired by the provost.

Following an election by the committee, a faculty member in their second year of service on the committee serves as vice chair. URC members include:

  • seven faculty members elected to serve, including one with the rank of lecturer or senior lecturer
  • seven students — four from the College, two from the Graduate School and one from the medical school — appointed by their respective elected representative governing body
  • two staff members appointed by the Staff Advisory Committee
  • administrators, include deans or other senior officers directly engaged in the budget process, assigned to the committee at the provost’s discretion to serve as ex-officio members 

Professorial faculty members serve three-year terms. Lecturer or senior lecturer member terms, as well as staff member terms, are two years. Graduate and undergraduate student members are appointed to two-year terms. Medical student terms are two years, with the option of serving for one year.
