A. Naomi Paik, associate professor of Asian American studies with appointments in Gender & Women’s Studies and History at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, will lead a seminar titled “Steal the University: Making Teaching and Scholarship Work for Publics.” This discussion-based seminar will focus also on how to use one’s position in institutions to impact folks and communities outside of them. She will also discuss the research and writing process for her forthcoming book Bans, Walls, Raids, Sanctuary (May 2020, University of California Press).
