This talk is about the ways in which the Middle Passage lives inside us still, the symptoms that the experience exhibits, and how we might think about a protocol that brings healing and resilience.

Patricia Powell is a writer and healer. Her novels include, Me Dying Trial, A Small Gathering of Bones, The Pagoda and The Fullness of Everything. A novel, Balm Yard, and a nonfiction book, Healing the Traumas of Slavery, are forthcoming. Powell is a Professor of English at Mills College at Northeastern University in Oakland, California.
