Biography

My areas of research interest focus on family relationships, particularly those between committed adult couples (e.g., cohabiting, married) and those between parents and adult children. I teach courses in family and demography. I like to work on projects with students who are willing to do some statistical analysis. In the past two years, students have done projects on the role of young adults still living with their parents in the household division of labor and on the effect of parental remarriage on leaving home early (running away). I am starting a project on men who begin relationships with women who already have children, who they are and what sort of parenting they do.
