Professional Development Opportunities

Professional Development

Did you know UHR has an entire team dedicated to professional development? Click below for more information on some of the programs our Talent Development team has to offer!

Leading from Where You Are
Leading from Where You Are (LFWYA), will help you develop skills to lead in your current position. These same skills are crucial to develop as you move towards future leadership opportunities. You will participate in skill development and share your learning experiences with your manager and the rest of the LFWYA cohort.

LFWYA is a blended learning program, with five distinct sections. Through the use of online learning, independent article reviews, chat room discussions, and in-person programming, you will learn skills and seek out opportunities to use those skills now.

Leadership Certification Program

The Leadership Certification Program (LCP) provides new and existing leaders with the skills necessary to effectively lead at Brown. To become certified, leaders must complete An Orientation to the Leadership Certification Program, followed by 9 other modules within three years. Modules are offered as live instructor-led sessions, online modules, or a combination of the two (blended).

All newly-hired and promoted managers are required to certify and will be automatically registered in the program. Existing leaders are also encouraged to certify to refresh their skills and provide valuable insights while participating in the program.

Employee Education Program (EEP)

The EEP provides financial assistance to eligible staff employees pursuing undergraduate, advanced degrees and job-related courses at Brown or outside of Brown in an effort to assist in meeting educational goals.
