Chantel Pheiffer Maguire
Visiting Scholar in Population Studies
Chantel is an assistant professor of urban public health at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Her research examines the relationship between internal migration and health with a focus on social stratification and gender. In the context of the health transition occurring in LMICs, paying particular attention to non-communicable disease risk, she considers whether geographic mobility is associated with health outcomes such as blood pressure and BMI. She also investigates whether the relationship between health and migration depends on the places to, and from, which individuals move.
