Background
Schleith's research is classified as urban or transportation geography. It is focused on quantifying urban sprawl in order to identify strategies for making cities more accessible by modes of travel other than private automobiles. To date, his research has used the Excess Commuting framework to measure the amount of travel-to-work that is built into the urban form of various places.
