Elisa Macchi

Prior to joining Brown and the PSTC in January 2023, Elisa Macchi completed a postdoctoral appointment at MIT Economics. She received her PhD from the University of Zurich and a master's degree from the University of Bologna. Her research is at the intersection of development and behavioral economics. She is interested in the role of social preferences and relational contracts in contexts characterized by large information frictions, like developing countries. Other research interests include the determinants of health behavior, especially related to nutrition and exercise, and mental health. Her current field work is based in Uganda.
