Predoctoral Trainee in Economics
Shirley's research focuses on environmental issues and intra-household decision problems in the developing world, especially in China. Her current project examines how local leaders' hometown favoritism influences firm polluting behavior and productivity under the decentralized environmental regulation in China. Her research interests are in development economics, environmental economics, and labor economics.
