Built in 1982, the 40,000 sf brick GeoChem building is home to the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences (DEEPS) and the Department of Chemistry. DEEPS currently occupies the lower floors of the four and a half story building and chemistry, the three remaining upper floors. This project focuses on upgrading the building’s mechanical infrastructure, fire protection/life safety, exterior envelope and accessibility. This includes replacing the existing air handling equipment and chiller, and upgrading all equipment to direct digital controls. In addition, the existing laboratories will be modernized ― replacing laboratory fume hoods and fan coil units.
