Part of Brown’s Housing Renewal Plan, the renovation of Miller, Metcalf, and Andrews Halls consisted of several levels of renovation in different buildings to create a second area of campus devoted to First-Year Housing.

For Miller and Metcalf Halls, the scope of work included converting single occupancy bedrooms to doubles, the removal and replacement of all finishes and systems, and the restoration of the building exteriors. Once connected to Andrews Hall at certain levels, the buildings are now independent structures, creating smaller living communities.

The scope of work for Andrews Hall converted paired single bedrooms to doubles and created lounges on each floor by adding a kitchenette and recycling closet.

Miller and Metcalf Halls achieved a LEED Gold rating from the USGBC.
