As the Rockefeller Library celebrates its 50th anniversary, the building is undergoing a multiphase revitalization effort. Phase 1 involved the renovation of the central reading room, now called the Sorensen Family Reading Room, and code upgrades. The newly renovated reading room features new furniture, meeting spaces, and comfortable study spaces. Phase 2 converted the existing periodical room into the Sidney E. Frank Digital Studio, a new technology-enabled collaborative space for students and faculty.

The renovations  transformed the first floor, opening it up to natural light and creating a variety of spaces for students to study in. In addition to the interior renovations, significant mechanical system work, code upgrades and renewal of the exterior were included for the 1960s building.
