The Writing Center

The Center is staffed by graduate students from a variety of academic disciplines. Staff members are experienced writers and teachers who participate in ongoing training in composition theory and practice as well as intensive training in ELL specific linguistic transfer and cultural approaches to writing. Associates can help writers deal with writer's block, audience awareness, argumentation, organization, grammar, research skills, the conventions of academic writing, English language learning, and issues of clarity and style.  To request an appointment at the Writing Center, click here.


Academic Support

Academic Support offers a myriad of resources designed to assist Brown Students in achieving their academic and intellectual aspirations and goals. Academic workshops are offered almost every week of on a wide range of topics related to academic strategies and study skills.


Academic Coaches

Academic coaches are juniors, seniors, and master's students who are trained to provide confidential academic coaching and support.  Whether you are a first year or a senior, a coach can help you achieve your academic goals for the semester.



Group tutoring is offered for select introductory courses in science, math, economics, and statistics.


Library Support

If you need help mastering the use of research databases or citing like an expert, consider enrolling in one of the library's many useful workshops.
