2018-19 Writing Across the Curriculum Faculty Seminar
Call for Applications
The Writing Across the Curriculum Faculty Seminar provides support for faculty to (re)design, develop, and teach a course that supports writing in their discipline. The program combines a Sheridan seminar on writing pedagogy and course design with a supportive peer community, individual consultation and feedback, and an opportunity to share course and student successes. Seminar size is limited to allow for hands-on opportunities, individual support, and the development of a teaching and learning community. Participants may choose to co-design a course with a graduate or undergraduate student.
Dates
- April 2018: One-hour individual consultation
- April 26, 2018; 12-1:30 pm: Luncheon and workshop
- June 5-6, 2018: Intensive two-day Sheridan course design seminar
- October 2018: 90-minute cohort syllabus workshop (optional)
- Spring 2019: Participant course offered; Formative feedback collected
- March 2019: Cohort luncheon
- May 2019: Reception and presentations
Requirements
- Attendance at 2018 seminar meetings and consultations, and Spring 2019 presentations
- Development or redesign of a course that supports student writing and submission for CCC approval
- Instruction of the course in Spring 2019
- Collection of formative feedback from students in Spring 2019 and engagement with assessment of the program
Funding
- $2,000 grant for graduate or undergraduate student co-designer support, or other course development costs
- Priority Writing Fellow assignment, if desired
