The Sheridan Teaching Seminar - Reflections on Teaching and Learning
Reflections on Teaching and Learning This lecture encourages the practice of identifying and exploring our own teaching beliefs and practices with the purpose of improving our students’ learning and our teaching experiences. Sheridan Award recipients Robert Self (History), Barbara Tannenbaum (TAPS), and Michael Paradiso (Neuroscience) will reflect on and discuss the development of their teaching practices.

Information Session for Sheridan Center's Certificate V Program
Sheridan Center's Certificate V program provides training in mentorship practices to prepare grad students to become effective future faculty mentors. Successful proposals will receive a stipend. Applications must be submitted by May 12th. An information session for all interested parties will be held on Wed April 30th, 11am-12pm in the Science Center (3rd floor of the Science Library). Past participants will be present to share their experiences.

Getting Started with Digital Humanities
What are the digital humanities? How do they offer new ways to think about teaching and research across humanities disciplines? Led by John Melson (Sheridan Center), this session will explore these questions and introduce participants to this emerging field. We’ll look at examples of current digital humanities projects, discuss how digital humanities approaches can be used productively in classes and research, and share essential resources. Designing an Advanced Language Course Based on Gastronomy
aka “French for Foodies” In this workshop led by Senior Lecturer Annie Wiart (French Studies), we will explore how to design an advanced language course with specific cultural content (gastronomy) relevant to both the target culture and the personal interests of students (as revealed by the immense popularity of culinary TV programs, networks, blogs etc.).
